Week 6, day 5

Students were treated to a special shopping afternoon in Leicester, providing students with the opportunity to buy presents and other items in a big city.

The farewell party was a great success, A special ceremony as all the students were leaving, so all the students got their certificates. Students were given prizes for the best in sport and the winners of Group Games and Wacky Races. At the end of the ceremony everybody enjoyed a video of the best memories of these two weeks. Students then made their way back to Brookehouse for the final Summer School disco of 2013!! :(

Tomorrow students make their way to Cambridge, some for sightseeing and some for their IELTS (Good Luck!!) and the rest of the students travelled to Birmingham for shopping and to Cadbury's World to see how chocolate is made and test lots of it!!

Brookehouse would like to bid farewell to The Nigerian group and their brilliant leaders and to all the individuals who are leaving!! 

Summer School finished!! see you next year!

Week 6, day 4

Students practised different sports in the leisure centre this afternoon, such as tennis, football, volleyball, badminton and rounders. High temperatures didn't stop them enjoying playing sports/games with their friends, although some of them ended the afternoon under the trees shade talking and laughing.

The pinnacle of the evening activies saw students divided into international groups to take part in group games!! A fantastic activity, which consisted of several small activities that students had to compete in the gain points for their teams, such as Bungee Basket, Spiders Web, Giant Jenga and Beat the Goalie amongst others! The night was ended with students being split into two teams for a giant Tug of War!! Fantastic fun!

Week 6, day 3

This Wednesday saw a slight change to the usual excursions, with students only visiting the two most popular destinations, Stratford upon Avon (where Shakespeare grew up) and Rutland Water for an afternoon of cycling and nature.

The evening consisted of the usual choice of activities such as football and twister, with the inclusion of a new activities in the crafts section of the workroom, with students being taught how to create juggling balls from rice and balloons and then being taught how to use them!

Week 6, day 2

Students enjoyed an afternoon of sports and leisure at the Leisure Centre, where they had the options of playing badminton, volleyball, tennis, rounders and football. Some outstanding talents were being displayed all over!!

A return of one of the students favorites from week 1, Wacky Races!! Which involved teams of international students designing and decorating their own crazy cardboard cars and race them against each other, with the house team taking 1st prize for aesthetics, and the London taxi team winning the student race, which came down to a head to head between Osvaldo and Aldair, Aldair just pipping him on the finish line! Great fun!!

Then students gathered to watch their staff leaders race in their cars, the London taxi team won again.
